Weekly Email

Here’s the weekly email. Enjoy!

From Phil:

Applications for the Shift Supervisor position will be open from Monday, October 4th – Sunday, October 17th. Everyone is encouraged to apply!

Applications for the SAM of Training position can be found on the internal website and will be available through Wednesday, September 29th.

Here are some tips and reminders for finding a sub for a shift that you can’t work:

·         Start looking early – put up your hours at least one week in advance.

·         Use the “Find Sub” tool and communicate personally with those employees who you know are available at that time – email, call, text, and talk face to face with people.

·         Be proactive in picking up others’ shifts – they’ll be more likely to help you out, not to mention that this is an important part of your semester performance review.

·         Don’t plan or schedule things during work hours until someone has physically picked up your hours on the website.

·         Remember that if no one picks up your hours you are responsible to work them.

From the Techs:

Windows Transaction Tool will not be fixed in the SWTK computer lab because we are phasing out this program.  Until it is totally gone the only computer lab that will have Windows Transaction Tool will be the desk station in the MCL.    We are sorry for the inconvenience this causes on those working in the MCL, but are grateful for your help in charging people’s accounts.

From Spencer:

Thanks for coming out to the Customer Service Workshop.  I hope you all enjoyed it.  Remember we want to be happy at work, and give explosive customer service.  Be sure to talk to the lab patrons, especially when you are going to their computer.  Also be the first to say hi when someone is approaching the desk.  You guys are great, and keep up the good work!

From the OCs:

If patrons ask to use headphones in the WILK there are a few in the bottom drawer of the desk. Feel free to open them and let them borrow them.

Our OACL Trainer, Spencer, has his own phone number. If you ever need to try to get in touch with him or leave him a voicemail, his number is 422-9045.

Have a great week! Let us know if you have any questions.
